Statistical portrait of women and men in the Republic of Moldova

The National Bureau of Statistics presents the statistical portrait of women and men in the Republic of Moldova based on available data.

At the beginning of 2023, as in previous years, the number of women per total country continues to predominate among the usually resident population (52.7% women and 47.3% men), with 90 men per 100 women. This ratio differs according to age group, the difference being more pronounced for the population aged 35-64 and 65 and over, with 91 women and 61 men per 100 women respectively. At the same time, in the younger age groups, males predominate over females in the 0-14 age group, with a ratio of 106 males to 100 females. In the 15-34 age group, the number of males is almost identical to females - 99 males per 100 females. In urban and rural areas, the sex ratio is also in favour of women, with 85 and 94 men per 100 women respectively.
